C-Suite Executive and Director
I am a petroleum geologist by profession.Ten-plus years with BP provided me with a solid foundation of diverse experience in Singapore, Melbourne, Aberdeen and Cairo. In 1991 I joined LASMO plc, a FTSE 100 company, where I became Libya Exploration Manager before moving to a New Business Group and then departing to take an MBA at Cranfield University. This led me into an eight-year period of consulting and a business startup venture before returning to full-time employment in the oil and gas sector in 2004. I rose to become MD, CEO or President of several international E&P companies, then returned to Papua New Guinea for my swansong. I returned to England in April 2024.
Finally, I am CEO is my second book and is a narrative about my business career to the end of my first tenure as CEO in 2011. Back in 2008 I published A Mountain to Climb on Timor, the story of my teenage and university years. It is out of print, but available for purchase online as used copies.
I count myself lucky to have been born in rural Wiltshire in the west of England, the only son of two wonderful parents whom I miss dearly since their passing. My paternal roots can be traced back six centuries in Wiltshire and the adjacent county of Somerset, and my spirit is there among the ghosts of Medieval knights, Anglo-Saxon kings and the builders of Stonehenge.
With a huge amount of luck, I am blessed with three wonderful children and a truly amazing wife whom I met while working in Egypt.
